That was beautiful, Sister Zirker. Your family is lovely. It was a wonderful gift having both you and Elder Zirker at our wedding. We're really grateful you two served in Pittsburgh.
I was so glad to have the oppurtunity to serve around the Zirker's for 6 months on my mission. One of my favorite stories about Elder Zirker was when one morning he came into the Institute office after making his usual 3 mile or so walk from his apartment to the church. He told us that as he was walking he encountered some road closures and large crowds due to a race that was going on in downtown Pittsburgh. He wasn't really up to finding an alternate route to the church so he just decided to pretend that he was blind. He used his cane and poked his way through the traffic and crowds and acted as if he had no clue what was going on. I guess some people were getting pretty angry with him but he just kept on going on till he made it to the church. I thought that was pretty funny. He also would always keep a few extra dollars in his pockets so that when he got stopped by beggers on the street he could always help them out. He was such a caring and Christ like man. Thanks for sharing him with us missionaries! Ginny Hartman (Sister Olsen)
